Message if left exposed, methanol will find a weak spot and work it's magic. This is why practically everyone that runs methanol will flush their fuel system with gasoline after an event. Better to be safe than sorry.

The 15% gasoline in E85 seems to be enough of a corrosion inhibitor, but I think most of the auto manufacturers still follow the better to be safe than sorry train of thought when it comes to liabilities and the fact you can't control what people put into their tank.
